The Secret of Making Money Writing Ebooks—Don’t Create How-to Information products for Window Shoppers
There are several how-to websites that run into thousands of pages and their number is increasing daily. They also attract hundreds and thousands of visitors daily. It is true that the creators of these websites make millions of dollars. But at the same time it is also true that their actual source of income is not the how-to information, but advertisements and Google Adsense.
And can you imagine the sweat and blood that goes into achieving that level of success?
Are you capable of burning yourself out day after day?
Perhaps not. What should we do then?
Before we know that, let us first try to understand why most creators of info-products fail to make money online so that we too do not make similar mistakes.
The main reason for their failure is that they try to sell “scrapbooking e-books” to people who want to learn how to collect memorabilia for their scrapbooks. Or, they write e-books for people with digital cameras on how to take great pictures. The examples can be multiplied.
In short you try to sell basic how-to information. And when you are trying to sell basic how-to information, you often have to jump through a bunch of fiery hoops (with gasoline underwear and no less) in order to get prospects coming to your door. What you, in fact, forget is that an average consumer doesn’t sweat over taking great pictures just because they recently purchased a digital camera.
Sandi, the stay-at-home mom, isn’t nervously gnawing on her nails at 3am wondering where to put the Eiffel Tower sticker in her scrapbook.
The type of people who buy basic how-to information are just strolling along the information superhighway casually seeking whatever comes across their way. Sometimes they’re looking to buy an info-product. Sometimes they want some info for free.
But you can bet your last dollar that they’re not losing any sleep over that digital camera or starting a scrapbook. And that’s what makes selling information products to these types of customers a little harder.
How do you create the type of info-product that people will buy eagerly?
Here is the secret of creating information products that can fly off your shelves.
You should create information products for desperate people. And when you do so, you change the dynamics from being the person who’s doing the chasing – (as you have to do when selling a typical how-to product) - to becoming the person who is constantly being chased.
Who are the desperate people?
These are the people who are facing painful problems such as losing their hairs or gaining flesh around their thighs. These and similar problems are taking away their peace of mind and sleep. There are teens and adults who are suffering from acne and most definitely people who have smelly feet.
Selling information to buyers who live these types of problems is easy because the problem is clear, obvious, bothersome and possibly embarrassing to the person who is suffering from it.
And this theory doesn’t apply solely to people with health issues. Desperate people come from all types of situations. And a good percentage of them have the same burning desire to clear up an issue in their lives.
This is the way you can make grand slams in writing ebooks.
