Internet Marketing – Building a Responsive List

Hi and Thanks for checking out my blog again. Where there is always something new to learn.

Good day,

If you are an internet marketer that has been around for any length of time, you know by now that you must have a “list”. This is just a group of email addresses (hopefully with at least first names, too) that have collected using your opt-in page. So what do you do with it, now that you have a list? Good question, here are some tips.

First of all it’s assumed that the people that signed up for your list, whether it’s a newsletter or e-course or whatever, have an interest in what you are selling. Otherwise they wouldn’t have opted in, right? So you already know what they expect, to some degree. Your job now is to not disappoint them! Make sure they get what you promised them immediately, with your auto-responder (which ever service you use, I like Aweber myself). If you advertised a bonus or free report, make sure it’s delivered to them immediately upon confirmation of their opt-in. This is critical, because it is their first impression of you!

After that, make sure you follow-up with a big thank-you for joining your subscription or service. Make them feel welcome, and start immediately to develop a relationship with them so they feel as if they are getting to know you. Make your emails friendly, not just all “business” or sales-oriented. People like to be romanced a little, right? I mean that in a friendly way of course, but you know it’s true. Send them a few emails in the beginning to let them get to know you, and also what to expect in the future. Tell them about the great content they can expect, and then make sure you deliver it!

Be sure to send on a regular time-frame, so they can get used to, and even expect, your emails. After awhile hopefully they will look for them in anticipation. If you provide interesting and helpful content about the subject you promised, it will go a long way to reeling them in so they stay for awhile. If you don’t hold their interest, of course they will bail on you! I mean wouldn’t you? Space your newsletters out about every 5-7 days or so, and of course every now and again you can mix in a sales pitch for your product or affiliate product. However don’t start that right away, give them some time to get used to your style and gain some trust with you. If you start sending sales pitches too soon, they will get turned off and probably unsubscribe.

Another thing to remember is to speak with authority on your subject at hand – they expect you to be an expert! Don’t let them down, do your homework first and then let them know you have all the information they need right there. Use actionable phrases like “killer tips” and “unbelievable techniques” – just don’t go too over the top. If you have some great tips though, make sure you get your message out loud and clear! That’s what it’s all about, right?
