Let’s talk about article marketing for a few moments. Most of you reading this right how have tried it, right? You’ve probably started off with tons of enthusiasm and excitement, and eventually found yourself disappointed with your results. And if you are anything like most of the people who I speak to, invariably you end up thinking the whole strategy is a huge waste of time, energy and effort. (it’s not.)

I say that as someone who has written thousands of articles that have resulted in millions of readers, and some of the biggest insights I’ve learned took me lots of hard luck lessons to understand. (hopefully I can save that for you below.)
Tip #1: Titillate with Your Titles
The truth? There is NOTHING more demoralizing than spending a ton of time writing content…only to find no one is reading it. When it comes to article directories, the TOP way to stand out is to create articles titles that compel, coerce and cajole people to be curious enough to open them. Use POWER words (like “titillate” for example..:-) In my experience, LONGER titles are far more effective than short ones for open rates. And remember…ultimately, your goal is to have your content show up in the search engines, so pick very targeted, and hyper relevant titles that match the needs of your anticipated audience as well.
Tip #2: Reward With Your Resource Box
The truth? You can get TONS of readers to your article, but if you waste your resource box you won’t make any money. Don’t write about your good looks, your high school cheerleading awards, how long you’ve been in business or a long verbose commentary on what you’d like to do with your life. It sounds trite…and mean, but people simply don’t care. They care ONLY what you can do for them……and offering something of additional value is the best way to ensure they click through to your offer. Tip #3: Isolate and Integrate
Your article is ONLY the first piece of the puzzle. If you truly want killer conversions, you’ve got to do an equally good job with every other element of your marketing funnel.
