Have you ever been solicited by one of the top Internet marketer’s organization for Internet marketing coaching? Several of the major gurus employ a training company and assign their name to the training to make it seem like a great opportunity to move ahead in your Internet marketing efforts.

If they have ever called you, you probably listened to a great pitch for their Internet marketing coaching. After all, you aren’t doing as well as the guru, are you? I should say not. The pitch man assures you that you should be earning a lot more money than you are making now.

OK, just how much is this coaching?

Well, when I was contacted the pitch man told me it wold cost me $5000 up front. It was really an investment in my future. Not only that, but, I could put it on a credit card and over time pay only around $130 a month. So, in reality, it could only cost $130 a month for the coach the guru had hired.

Here are a couple of ideas I bounced off the pitch man. See if they resonate with you.

For starters I said this: You’ve likely gone into a restaurant that you had never been to before and ordered something to eat. Have you ever been asked to pay for an whole year’s worth of meals before they even delivered the salad? Of course not. That would be outrageous. You want to savor your first meal, appraise the atmosphere, pay for your meal, and then determine if you will go to that restaurant again.

The same should be true in working with a coach. You first decide if the coach really can help you. If he can, then you can choose to go on paying for more coaching. Doesn’t that sound reasonable?

But, the pitch man assuured me, the reason for up front investment is because there are lots of overhead costs. Sure there are.  And the pitch man is the chief overhead that will take a significant portion of that up front payment.

Here’s a second idea: Would you pay $50000 for a “HoDo” car when you’ve never seen or even heard of it? It’s got wheels, a rear view mirror, headlights, a sturdy leather covered steering wheel, windows all around the car. This baby is packed with bucket seats in front. And, for your safety it’s got breaks and a horn. What a deal?

So, do you think you would actually pay $50000 for such a car, sight unseen? Not if you are rational.

Now, is it reasonable for the pitch man to expect me to hand over $5000 for a coach I have no experience with? That would be pretty juvenile, don’t you think?

Well, needless to say, our little chat wasn’t moving forward very well. So, in the course of the next minute or two I terminated the call.

So, the next time you are contacted by a pitch man for coaching with a huge up front cost, simply ask him a couple of questions.
