4 Free And Effective Ways To Promote Your Website

Hi and Thanks for checking out my blog again. Where there is always something new to learn.

One of the first things you must learn in any sales position is that the customer must trust

you.  The best, most successful sales people take the time to learn about their customers, find out what their needs actually are, and gain their trust by making sure that the customer is not only satisfied with the product purchased, but feels in their deepest heart that the salesperson has acted as their friend.

In fact, many of the most successful salespeople actually DO become close personal friends with some of their best clients.  Along the way to becoming the best, however, they learn one simple fact of life.  You never know who your best client is going to be.

So, the best of the best, when it comes to sales, try to think of everybody as their friend and treat them in that manner.

Okay, so this article is about the best ways to promote your website.

That isn’t sales, is it?

You bet your sweet bippy it is!

Maybe YOU aren’t selling things to people, but I bet you are hoping your website is!

However, we are talking about getting people to your website in the first place.  That’s calle website promotion.

Obviously, you will want to have a nice looking website with an excellent offer and an effective sales processing mechanism in place.  You will want to implement the most effective search engine optimization (SEO) techniques so that search engines and people will love it.

Unfortunately, unless you have the absolute most-bestest product, website, and luck in the entire world, that is not going to be enough to bring the visitors to your website in droves.

Of course, you COULD pay some big advertising firm to create an ad campaign for you, and that should only cost a few thousand dollars.

On the other hand, if you had that kind of money to bankroll your new Internet business, you wouldn’t be reading this article.

So, you are going to have to get out in the trenches and do some work yourself to get the ball rolling.  In order to help you, here are four of the best ways to promote a website that I have learned in the last 10 years that I have been making a living online.

1.  Forums and forum signatures:  Simple enough.  You go to forums where topics relevant to your website are discussed and create a signature which will encourage people to visit your site.  When you participate, be real.  No ads promoting your product.  No long dissertations about problems which make it painfully obvious that your product is what is need to save the day.

Be a friend.  Listen (read) with concerned care and answer as a genuine friend would answer.  Ask questions.  If you don’t really want to know yourself, think about what someone else might want to know but be afraid to ask.  If you can guide a conversation towards your area of interest or expertise, that’s great, but don’t jump in with a solution if the solution is your product.

Let your signature do the selling, and let your friendly interest be the link that leads people to investigate your link.

Not only is this a good way to sell stuff, but it’s also a good way to become genuinely concerned about others, make new friends, and become a better person.

2.  Article marketing:  Writing and posting articles with genuine information of value is one of the absolute best ways of creating interest in your website.  If the article provides information of value, your link as the author will often be enough to lead people to your website.  However, the information must be of genuine value.  Simply writing an article that says, “In order to solve this problem, visit my site…” is not the way to go about it.

3.  Free classified advertising:  This is often either overlooked or over-worked by most people new to marketing.  You NEVER try to SELL thing through free classified ads!  It just doesn’t work.  After all, are YOU going to send a lot of money to someone you don’t know on the basis of an ad on a free classified website?

You use free classified advertising to offer something free as well.  A report, perhaps.  When the report arrives, it, like the article mentioned above, contains genuine information of value.  It also contains information about your product, but, if you are really astute, it also contains information about how to get more free information!  However, each new piece of information carries information about your product as well.  If the potential customers keep getting valuable, yet free, information, sooner or later a bond of trust will come into existence between you and the other person. and, you can be on it, sooner or later a sale will be made.

4.  Use free traffic exchanges to offer a free gift or report.  Most people make the mistake of trying to “sell” stuff on free traffic exchanges.  The people who are there ARE there because they are hoping to get someone to go to THEIR site so that THEY can sell THEM something…for THEM, read YOU.  They don’t want to stop and they don’t want to buy.  They just want to click, click, click and get people to look at their site they way they are looking at yours.  Ninety-nine point nine per cent of the time, nobody sells anything to anybody.

However, if YOU can catch their eye with the offer of some free report, service, or product which will make THEIR Internet marketing experience, which probably has been lousy up until now, more effective, you have a chance to get past their traffic-exchange-glazed eyes and make contact with a real person who might be interested in you and your product
